Happy 2008!

Happy 2008 everyone! I hope everyone had a great start to 2008. James and I decided to have my sister Sarina, Chris and my nephew Dylan over for the night. It was nice this year to hangout and relax at home instead of fighting off the crowds at some bar. We just cooked dinner, watched some movies and the peach drop. Yesterday we all did the same for a couple of hours until they went home to get ready for work today. I have to say I was very lazy yesterday. I started watching TLC with Sarina and continued late in the night. (as I was flipping back and forth from TLC and the UGA game)..lol TLC had this shows on about extremely obese people. I really hate the word obese for some reason I feel like it’s a derogatory work and should not be used. But anyway, they had them back to back all day. They had a man that weighed 1,000 pounds. I saw myself in him for some reason. I felt the pain that he felt. It was so sad! They have a hospital now in NY who only specializes in very over weight people. I saw myself being in one of them one day if I don’t do something about my weight now! Im very much like all the people on the show. I do have an addiction to food much like people who are alcoholics do. I eat when Im sad or when Im happy or when Im just plan bored to death. I have decided this year to do something about it! Instead of going on my diet binge Im just going to watch what I eat and how much. Diets have never worked for me at all. Some are way to expensive to try to maintain or a long period of time and some are just plan hard to understand. For people who only have like 10 pounds to lose some of the diets are great! I never understood the liquid diets, heck if I wanted to kill myself, I will just keep eating like I am. I have come to realize in the last couple of weeks that its not really what Im eating, but how much and when Im eating it. I tend to eat more at night and then just sit down and watch TV. Not a good thing I know.
Here is a list of what all I plan to achieve this year.
1) No more than one drink a day other than water
2) Eat breakfast like I should
3) Exercise on a regular basis
4) Snack only on fruits and veggies throughout the day.
I still have to go to the grocery store this week and start stocking up on fruits and veggies, but I hope this will keep me from grabbing something out of the vending machine at work or saying yes to the offer of cookies in the break room. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. Hope everyone has a great 2008!!
